The Creation Workshops at Les Territoires gallery offers to summer camp kids the opportunity to participate in free workshops animated by emergent artists.
This year, 3 different camp were able to benefit from 4 workshops, animated by the artist Émilie Franceschin and assiste by Frederique Ulmn-Gagné, who acted as a cultural mediator.
Émilie Franceschin is a graduate from the Toulouse School of Fine Arts and has presented her works in various performance festivals in France, Italy, England, Belgium and in Germany. She has participated in residencies at the Cité internationale des Arts in Paris and in Düsseldorf, and presented a performance in the context of the European Museums Night at the Calbet museum in France in May 2015. In October 2014, she released a publication on her performance work titled “Du cœur à l’ouvrage”. Émilie Franceschin lives and works in Toulouse.
Frédérique Ulman-Gagné holds a BFA from Concordia University (2007) and a MFA from the Université du Québec à Montréal (2010). Having collaborated for several years with her son, the artist emphasizes the importance of this period in her practice. Her current research is the result of this work with her child and she is interested in the traces of this collaboration.
The first “Rencontre des Territoires” took place at the gallery and at the Centre communautaire Walkley from August 5 to 14, 2014. A group of fifteen young people and two guides participated in the creative workshops, which were organized and directed by the cultural mediator Florent Doerflinger Lo Castro in collaboration with the artists Charles-Antoine Blais Métivier, David Martineau-Lachance, Jean-Sébastien Massicotte-Rousseau, Lauren Klenow and Miriam Jonas.
