Creation workshop and exhibition

For emerging artists
Application deadline: March 10th, 2013

Les Territoires is launching an open call for artists for the 2013 creation workshops directed by Mexican artist Alejandro Garcia Contreras. Oscillating between humor, irony, and tribute, Alejandro plays with concepts of an idol worship generation in North American culture.

In the creation workshop, 5 emerging artists will collaborate to create a work for exhibition.  The guest artist proposes to create a stop-motion animation about the representation and symbolism of death, a fundamental topic in the Mexican tradition. The creation of a work made frame by frame uses a range of artistic practices: sculpture, drawing, painting, video, sound, photography, all which will be involved in the process. This collaboration will enrich the artistic practices of the participants. The project will allow them to disseminate their work and connect with other professionals in the arts.

The workshop will last for 5 hours per week for 4 months, and will lead to an exhibition presented at Les Territoires.  Both the creative process and final work will be shown in the exhibition. Workshops will be held in the gallery from April 2013 to July 2013. The exhibition will be presented from August 1st to August 24th, 2013.

Applications should include:
